I had the opportunity to plan a very special event that took place this past weekend…my best friend’s wedding! It was a pleasure to help Pete and Leila bring their vision to life but most of all to be a bridesmaid and to spend time with old friends and Pete’s family all the way from Australia!

The weekend kicked off with a fun Aussie style BBQ at Leila’s mom’s house. The couple was toasted by many friends & family members. Following the rehearsal dinner Pete spent some time with his “mates” while Leila suprised her bridesmaids with a slideshow and very special gifts- necklaces designed especially for the 10 girls by her mom, K Robins of K Robins Designs.
Leila and Pete were married the next day in a very intimate outdoor ceremony surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. The ceremony was performed by a close friend of the couple who was there when they met and several of their friends played the harp, guitar and sang. The wedding party had a great time taking photos surrounded by hay bales while guests were treated to a cocktail reception at where the highlight was beverages served out of a canoe.

As the bride and groom joined the reception, Leila’s couson performed a beautiful a capella verson of “At Last.” This was followed by Pete & Leila’s first dance to “I’ve had the time of my life”…just like in the movie, the bridesmaids joined in and soon the dance floor was full of family & friends. Dancing continued throughout the evening and guests were treated to wedding cake decorated with apples and orchids & apple crisp served with ice cream. This tied in to the apple decorations and a gift for the guests to take home…an apple pie recipe from Leila’s grandmother.
We wish the couple the best of luck as they make their way back to Sydney! Professional photos coming soon…
