Festival of the photograph April 30, 2009

 

This evening, The X Lounge will host an information reception for the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph being held June 11-13 in Charlottesville.

 

The Festival is a not for profit celebration of photography — created by photographers. With a program of exhibitions, workshops, interviews, outdoor screenings, and special events, the Festival attracts professional and amateur photographers from around the world to Charlottesville’s picturesque historic downtown.

 

The festival will feature the following 3 legacy artists at ticketed events:

 

Sylvia Plachy (Thu, June 11, 7-9pm)

Martin Parr (Fri, June 12, 4-6pm)

Gilles Peress (Sat, June 13, 4-6pm)

Racing Report April 30, 2009

Thanks to the team at Embarq for allowing us to be involved with their event this past weekend, held during the Foxfield Races! We had a wonderful catering event, despite the hot temperatures. Hopefully it proved to be a good warm up to this weekend’s Kentucky Derby!

 

A sampling of the menu provided by Chef Allen:

Southern Bourbon Pecans and Vanilla Walnuts

Salad of Organic Greens with Sour Cherries, Toasted Pecans and Fresh Pear, Vanilla Dressing

Mini Lump Crab Cakes with Lemon Scented Onions

We even provided guests with Espresso Martinis presented in individual Chocolate Cups between races!

Katie Sale, of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” will be leading a workshop on Thank – you note writing. They will offer light refreshments and let you unwind after the work day- and then a fun and informative session on thank – you notes. Wrap up the workshop looking at all the goodies that “Rock, Paper, Scissors” has to offer as well as new items that Festive Fare has introduced for spring.

Packaging for Peanuts. April 15, 2009

A Summer client plans to give her guests Virginia Peanuts as a ‘Thank You’ for attending their local themed wedding.  We want to package them in something more interesting than their normal foil wrap or tin.  Here are a few ideas that we came up with so far…

Two ounce custom tins from Gamiworks. You don’t get many peanuts but isn’t being able to keep the cute tin worth it? 

A mini kraft gift bag.  Not so boring if you picture it sealed with a sticker from Paper Source.  Most of them run through a standard printer so adding a personalized note is easy to do!
